The Last Record Shop -- An Art Project
The Last Record Shop was a creative community project that imagined fictional bands and albums. People invented band names, album titles, track lists, and bios for imaginary bands. They designed fictional record sleeve art to go along with the made-up band information. The fictional album artwork was printed and turned into physical record sleeves. But instead of containing music from the fictional bands, each sleeve contained a randomly selected real LP record. The record shop was set up in a local gallery, allowing visitors to purchase the fictional band's album (each sleeve contained a randomly selected used LP).. It provided a unique interactive art experience blending imagination and reality. The project encouraged creative participation from all kinds of people to invent the fictional bands and albums, making The Last Record Shop a community-driven art experience celebrating music and imagination.
